Parade Tonight 12/6

All practices are cancelled for tonight because the entire Gloucester Wrestling team, from youth through high school, has been invited to walk in the Christmas parade. If your child is interested in walking with the team, please meet by 6:15pm on Johnson Blvd by the truck for Gloucester City School District.

Wear Gloucester Wrestling attire, if you have some. Any questions, call Coach Doc at 609-634-8843, or email us at info@gloucesterwrestling.com.

Got Beer?

Attention parents: We’re still looking for some additional cases of beer for our infamous Beer Tower! The beer tower is sure to be a sight to behold at this Friday’s Beef & Beer, and we would greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to donate a case for the cause.

If you’re able to help, let us know by filling out the contact form here on our website, or speak to one of our coaches directly.

Parents Meeting on Tuesday 11/27

There will be a meeting for parents on Tuesday 11/27 at 7:00pm in the high school cafeteria.

We will explain the basics of our program and the goals we strive to reach. You’ll also learn what parents and wrestlers can expect for the next few months.

We strongly suggest that all parents, especially those with first-year wrestlers, attend this meeting. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions if you’re unsure about something or if there’s anything that remains unclear.

In case you’re still asking yourself whether or not it’s a good idea to sign up your child for wrestling, take some time to read these few articles to get a better perspective:

Equipment Returns & Donations

There are quite a few wrestlers who did not return last year’s singlets, compression shirts, and/or headgear. If you still have your stuff from last year, please bring it to the first practice.

New equipment will not be issued until last year’s items are either returned or paid for.

Also, if wrestlers have their own headgear or shoes that no longer fit — and are in acceptable usable condition — we would greatly appreciate it if those items were donated to our youth program. We have some athletes with limited resources, and your donations of usable equipment help give everybody an opportunity to participate.

Tomorrow Starts the First Week of Practice

Tomorrow, Monday 11/28, marks the official start of this season!

Practice schedules are as follows:

➔  Middle School: after school until approximately 5:30pm Mon-Fri.
➔  Ages 7-10: Monday & Wednesday 7:00pm-8:30pm
➔  Ages 4-6: Tuesday & Thursday 7:00pm-8:15pm

For all ages, remember to wear appropriate practice clothing. No jeans, no boots, nothing with buttons or zippers.

Lastly, no student will be permitted to begin practice until properly completed and signed registration forms are submitted.

Registration Is Now Open and Paperless

Great news for our wrestling family — registration for the 2018-2019 season is now officially open! Plus, this year we’re doing our best to remain efficient and environmentally friendly by making signups completely paperless!  You can fill out and submit all necessary forms, and pay registration fees, right here on our website.

Visit our Registration page and follow the 3 simple steps explaining how to complete and submit the forms, then pay for the registration right below that. We’re confident this will keep things running smoothly, and the process really is pretty easy. In fact, you can do everything from your computer, laptop, tablet, and even your smartphone!

In the off chance that you do run into any difficulty, send us a message and we’ll help make sure everything gets taken care of properly.

Beef & Beer Planning Meeting Monday 11/5

We’re hosting a planning meeting on Monday 11/5 at 7:00pm at Tavern on the Edge to discuss this year’s beef & beer event (scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30th) and we’re asking for some help from our Gloucester Wrestling family.

As you probably already know, our annual beef & beer event is the largest of the season for us, and we’re looking for some volunteers to help out with a few things. If you’re able, please attend the planning meeting and help us kick off this season!

Banquet & Celebration at the Swim Club on 6/24

This year’s annual banquet and celebration will be at the Gloucester City Swim Club again. Time and date is Sunday June 24th from 2pm-6pm.

There’s no charge for wrestlers and parents. Siblings, however, will have to pay $5.

Please remember to bring singlets, headgear, and compression shirts. And a towel, of course! Sunscreen, too, for any of you fair-skinned kiddos.

We’re looking forward to a fun celebration! See you all at the swim club!
