Middle School Challenge #2 — Sunday 1/19

This Sunday will be the second SJWL Middle School Challenge. The tournament is for wrestlers in grades 7th & 8th only (as well as any of our 6th graders who regularly wrestle in the middle school duals matches).

It will be held at Moorestown High School.

Check-in time is 11:30AM.
Wrestling will start at 12:30PM.

A few important notes:

  • The goal is for every wrestler to get a minimum of 2 matches.
  • Wrestlers will not be separated by age. This means any 6th graders who participate could possibly be matched up against an 8th grader.
  • Results from the first Middle School Challenge will be used to try to separate wrestlers who competed against each other last time.
  • The tournament director will attempt to separate boys and girls when possible, but this entirely depends on the number of boys and girls who attend this event.

We need to know ASAP if your wrestler cannot attend. This will be a huge event with middle schoolers from the entire league, so advanced notice is essential to ensure things run smoothly.

Middle School Jamboree Saturday 1/11

This Saturday will be a Middle School Jamboree. The tournament is for wrestlers in grades 6th, 7th, & 8th only.

It will be held at Maple Shade High School.

Check-in time is 8:15AM.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The goal is for every wrestler to get a minimum of 3 matches.
  • Wrestlers will not be separated by age. This means a 6th grader could possibly be matched up against an 8th grader.
  • The tournament director will attempt to separate boys and girls when possible, but this entirely depends on the number of boys and girls who attend this event.

Everyone who wrestled in yesterday’s match against Palmyra should be participating in this jamboree as well.

We need to know ASAP if your wrestler cannot attend. This will be a huge event with middle schoolers from the entire league, so advanced notice is essential to ensure things run smoothly.

Match Tomorrow 1/5

Tomorrow’s match will be at the high school in the old gym.

Tots & Bantams (ages 4-8) check-in at 8:00AM
Midgets, Juniors, & Intermediates (ages 9-14) check-in at 11:30AM

For those wrestlers on the duals team, check-in by 9:15AM, weigh-ins will be at 9:30AM.
This link shows who is on the duals roster for tomorrow: rmd.me/Gixf4jGk6aA

Please let a coach know as soon as possible if you’re unable to make it tomorrow.

Also, we need help this afternoon setting up the mats, and we’ll need help tomorrow with concessions, admissions, scoring tables, etc. If you’re able to help, let us know (even better, show up by 8AM tomorrow!).

Happy New Year! Some Updates, Then Back to Work…

We’d like to wish all of our wrestlers, their families, our supporters, and the rest of our community a Happy New Year! This is the beginning of a brand new year, a brand new decade, so let’s start off on the right foot.

That being said, here’s what’s happening over the next several days…

Middle School practices will be Thursday 1/2 and Friday 1/3 after school.
Tots practice will be Thursday 1/2 at 6:00PM.
Bantams/Midgets practice will be Thursday 1/2 at 7:00PM.

Sunday 1/5 will be a home match. Some wrestlers will need to arrive at 8:30AM, everybody else at 11:30AM. That will be decided soon and notifications will be sent out. There will be a separate news post update about this Sunday’s match as soon as all of the details are finalized.

Also, we need help with the concession stand, admissions, table workers, etc. If you’re able to help out with anything, please let us know.

Great Job This Past Weekend

I want to congratulate all of our wrestlers for their performances this weekend. Some even wrestled both Saturday and Sunday, and I love the dedication!

Congratulations to all of our winners. And for those who may not have won a match this weekend, keep your heads high and move forward.

This was just the first tournament weekend of the season for us, and there will be plenty more to come. Focus on what we can do to perform better next time, and work harder in practice.
