Match against Collingswood canceled

Unfortunately tomorrow’s match against Collingswood has been canceled.

GHS is hosting St. Marks and Penns Grove in a Tri for Senior night. The ceremony will be between matches. GHS will start wrestling at 4:30 pm, so I’d like for our guys to go there instead of practicing tomorrow. St. Marks is the #1 team in Delaware, and a lot of our top wrestlers will have good matchups.

We will be off Weds, then practice Thursday and wrestle at Audubon on Friday. I will send times as soon as I touch base with administration tomorrow. Saturday is the Colonial tournament. They all know their weights.

We have parents taking their kids home without telling me. That cannot happen. The form is not sent to me. It goes to the Athletic director. From now on, if the child is taken without notifying me then they must take the bus for the rest of the season.

Same match list for tomorrow. We’re wrestling at Lindenwold HS. Make sure your singlets, long sleeve shirts, and shorts are washed and ready to go please.

Saturday’s Colonial Conference Tournament is at Paulsboro HS. I will have the list after tuesday’s practice when I get everyone’s updated weights. 115 pounds and less will be in the morning session, 7:30 am weighin. 120 pounds and more will be the afternoon session, which is 11 am weighin.

Important: Mats need to be rolled up after matches.

This Sunday 1/28 at GHS – K6 Duals AND those 12&under will wrestle Monday 2/12 – Lions Youth Middle School team will host Washington Twp – start time will most likely be 4:30 pm

Gloucester Wrestling Program Shows Grit and Toughness

I’m so proud of the Gloucester wrestling program after tonight. The grit and toughness showed by our kids to outlast a great team like WD just shows how tough we are!! Our HS team followed our match up with a great one of their own. We didn’t get the sweep, but for GHS to come down to the last match against the #1 team in Group 2, and to see the Gloucester kids outwork WD in those 3 period matches was great to see. Big things are coming in the future for the program. Keep sending them to club practices, car pool if you need to, and stick together!!! If we stick together, there are state championships in the near future, i promise!!!

Couple details for this week. Weds night is Youth night for the HS Match at Home against West Deptford so we’re invited to go to the HS after our match. This Sunday at GHS for Youth program matches is only for K-6 duals team and those 12&under as of Dec 31st (if you turned 13 since Jan then you’re good to wrestle).

Great job today!! The Hammonton and Carusi matches were canceled. I was trying to get Hammonton moved to last Friday but it didn’t work out. Carusi removed us from their schedule bc their league playoffs start a week earlier this year.

We also added Home matches 1/22 vs. Haddonfield and 1/31 vs. Collingswood

Tomorrow – Practice til 4:30
Friday – Away match at Lindenwold 4 pm
Sat – MS challenge 1:45 check in at riverwinds in WD (all 6-8th graders are welcome).
Sun – Lions Youth Match at Collingswood.

Let me know who is wrestling this weekend. I need to know by noon tomorrow or you’re not on the list.
