Gloucester Wrestling

Middle School Match on Tuesday 2/4

Our middle school duals team has a match on Tuesday, February 4th at 4:00PM.

Our Lions will be wrestling against the Paulsboro Red Raiders.

The match will be held in the Gloucester City Middle School auxiliary gym. Doors will open around 3:45PM for parents and spectators.

Reminder: All spectators must remain seated and orderly while in attendance at this event. This includes younger siblings and children, who must remain with their parents at all times. Nobody is permitted on the school stage for any reason. Running, pushing, shoving, fighting, vandalism, destruction of property, or any other inappropriate behavior will result in removal from the property.

Varsity Wrestling Tournament on 2/2

Sunday, February 2nd is the league’s annual SJWL Varsity tournament. It will be held at Moorestown High School.

7:00AM ➔ Doors open
7:45AM ➔ Final check-in
8:00AM ➔ Weigh-ins conclude
9:00AM ➔ Wrestling begins

Our varsity wrestlers competing in this weekend’s tournament have already been notified, so there shouldn’t be any confusion as to who’s wrestling and who’s not.

They should also already know the weight class in which they’ll be competing. But, if anybody still isn’t sure, or if there are other questions, contact a coach right away.

Middle School Challenge #2 — Sunday 1/19

This Sunday will be the second SJWL Middle School Challenge. The tournament is for wrestlers in grades 7th & 8th only (as well as any of our 6th graders who regularly wrestle in the middle school duals matches).

It will be held at Moorestown High School.

Check-in time is 11:30AM.
Wrestling will start at 12:30PM.

A few important notes:

  • The goal is for every wrestler to get a minimum of 2 matches.
  • Wrestlers will not be separated by age. This means any 6th graders who participate could possibly be matched up against an 8th grader.
  • Results from the first Middle School Challenge will be used to try to separate wrestlers who competed against each other last time.
  • The tournament director will attempt to separate boys and girls when possible, but this entirely depends on the number of boys and girls who attend this event.

We need to know ASAP if your wrestler cannot attend. This will be a huge event with middle schoolers from the entire league, so advanced notice is essential to ensure things run smoothly.

Middle School Jamboree Saturday 1/11

This Saturday will be a Middle School Jamboree. The tournament is for wrestlers in grades 6th, 7th, & 8th only.

It will be held at Maple Shade High School.

Check-in time is 8:15AM.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The goal is for every wrestler to get a minimum of 3 matches.
  • Wrestlers will not be separated by age. This means a 6th grader could possibly be matched up against an 8th grader.
  • The tournament director will attempt to separate boys and girls when possible, but this entirely depends on the number of boys and girls who attend this event.

Everyone who wrestled in yesterday’s match against Palmyra should be participating in this jamboree as well.

We need to know ASAP if your wrestler cannot attend. This will be a huge event with middle schoolers from the entire league, so advanced notice is essential to ensure things run smoothly.
